It's 75 degrees here in Flag. Warm, quiet and a Sunday, which means no school for us! Sundays are always so relaxing. The girls went out to play at a friend's house, Carmen and Zoya went down for a nap, Curt went out climbing with some friends and I had a good 2 hours all to myself. There is nothing like it :).
Pics are of our first watermelon for the season. Hurray! And the other is of Carmen in an outfit my mom made for one of my brothers in the 70's. Can you tell? Curt was embarrassed to put it on him :).
All is well on the home front. Turi finished school this last week, which means more reading (that girl tears through books) and time with her friends. She is close with one girl in the neighborhood who is a year older. I went to the library in search for a book she hadn't read, which is a bit challenging. She is currently reading through all of Louisa May Alcott's books (she wrote Little Women). We try to keep her in the classics :). She is also learning to play the piano (along with Tihi) with me as their teacher. Yikes!
Bitsu had a month off of school (she ended early) and has just started her homeschool program. It's all on DVD and she gets taught with a professional teacher. We really like it and it's challenging. We'll be taking it slow but I think it'll be great!
Tihi's school will continue through the summer but at a much easier pace. We are trying to keep her going at school so she doesn't lose a lot. She wants to start in 3rd grade, which is a grade above where she should be for her age. But she could totally do it!
Carmen loves having all his sisters home and spends a lot of time trying to keep up. Zoya is Zoya. She is happy and easy-going. She has started laughing a lot and is trying to sit up.
Curt heads off to CO in a week for seminary-level classes that are part of CCC's requirement for continuing education. He is going to get some intense time of study as he had 4 hours of class/day along with tests, papers and quizzes. We will all be staying her so that the girls can spend time around their friends for the summer.
We hope that your summer is starting out wonderful!! The video shows my mom lasting remnant. She taught the kids this!
